Philip John Brooks
Philip John Brooks is a singer/songwriter/guitarist. Growing up in the windswept
fishing village of Fleetwood on the far northwestern coast of England, Philip
experienced a unique view of life. He learned the dangers and trials of trawler
fishing from his father and fishermen around the home hearth. It is from the
heart and soul that he writes of these men, the unforgiving sea, and the places
and events remembered from growing up there.
Music has always been the backdrop of his life. His musical ambitions were
fueled by the "skiffle" craze. Age fifteen found him recording in Decca studios
in London as the lead guitarist of the award winning rock band, the Blue Beats.
Philip keeps musical tradition alive dividing his time between Europe and the
United States. Being attracted to the people and their stories, he is enthralled
by the unique history of the various geographical regions of the U. S.
especially the Southwest and the Southeast.
By unlocking the provocative nature of history, Philip pens songs about people,
places, and events...songs capable of breathing life into long forgotten heroes
and their special dance with life.
It is the melding of his songs, his command of the guitar, his ever- changing
repertoire, and his professionalism that allow him to captivate diverse
audiences.
